1937 PATEK PHILIPPE "Tegolino" Vintage Mens Rectangular Watch - 18K Gold. It features an elegant curved case and wonderful two-tone silver dial with gold accents.
It is often referred to as the "Tegolino", thanks to its resemblance to a famous Italian rectangular cake. It is a vintage Patek that embodies class. It's thin case slides nicely under a shirt cuff, and doesn't draw a lot of attention to itself. Patek produced this watch from the mid 1930's until the late'50's.
The cases for the 425 were made by Markowsky and are slightly curved so to be comfortable on the wrist of the wearer. It is powered by one of Patek Philippe's illustrious 9'90 movements, so well designed that Patek used it for more than 40 years.
The 9'90 Patek Philippe movement is a tonneau shaped movement introduced in 1934 and was fitted into many famous Patek Philippe watches such as the "Banana" ref. 2442, the "Eiffel Tower " ref. It has all original parts down to the hands and the Patek signed winding crown. Its 18K gold case is in honest condition with light indentions along the left side. It retains a strong hallmark. Its silver dial has previously been partially expertly refinished - retains it original raised enamel Patek Philippe signature. One of our watchmakers has disassembled it down to its last screw and cleaned and oiled it and installed a new old stock mineral crystal to give a perfect view of the dial even to the edge. Its extremely high grade movement is keeping time. For the finishing touch we have equipped it with a brand new crocodile strap making it ready for immediate enjoyment.
