A very fine old Italian certified cello by Carcassi, Florence, 1760
A very fine old Italian certified cello by Carcassi, Florence, 1760. A very fine 7/8 Italian cello made by Lorenzo & Tomaso Carcassi in Florence, ca 1760 with an exception of a later made scroll, certified by Florian Leonhard in London. This is an excellent example in near perfect condition with about 95% of the original varnish still retained. The head is 19th century, probably French. The instrument is a 7/8 size with the length over the back of 69.8 cm, however, it is a first class sounding concert cello with a broad model and a wonderful full arching. The sound is of a superb quality and beauty, great focus and carrying power that is able to fulfill a largest concert hall. Thank you and good luck!
