Pendant watch: extremely precious and unique Geneva gold enamel jewelry watch with very fine diamonds and emeralds, Rossel & Fils / Bautte & Cie. Extremely magnificent gem-set open face case, case rim and lynette finely hand engraved and green enameled; back star set with exceptional quality diamonds and emeralds, approx. 1.5ct finest emeralds, pendant, bail and opening knob also set with diamonds, on the bow there is missing two small diamonds. Case is in excellent condition. Gold content determined with acid test method.

Geneva cylinder movement grained and gilded, key wound, Breguet balance spring, index fine regulation, 10 ruby jewels. Functional and in excellent condition. Guilloche gold dial, radial Roman numerals, original blued Breguet steel hands, dial and hands are beautifully preserved. Case 25mm, movement 20mm weight approx 22g, 18K gold; the watch comes in the case shown. The firm of Bautte & Cie, Genève and its successor Rossell & Fils were famous for their pocket watches, boxes and lorgnons with the finest enamels and precious gemstone trim. The watch we have here is undoubtedly one of the top pieces. Comparable pocket watches with emerald and diamond set can be found in the important collections in the Louvre and the Hermitage. Shortly after his death in 1837, the company Jean-François Bautte & Cie.

Was continued by his son Jacques Bautte and his son-in-law Jean-Samuel Rossel, sellers of watch and jewelry goods. They traded under the name Rossel-Bautte & Cie. From 1855, then Rossel & Fils from 1860. The company was acquired in 1906 by Constant Girard-Gallet, owner of the Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux (La Chaux-de-Fonds).

Some creations from the house of Bautte are in the Girard-Perregaux Museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Rossel & Fils / Bautte & Cie. The love for old things has kept me working as an antique dealer for over twenty-five years.
