Antique Georgian 22ct Gold Garnet & Seed Pearl Ring Very Rare Size P1/2

Georgian 22ct Gold Garnet & Seed Pearl Ring. A very exciting antique ring with 22 carat gold band and bezel. The mount is set with old flat cut garnets with a ring of small seed pearls and a central oval garnet. This panel is mounted to the ring bezel and band. The bezel has decorative cutting and there are bifurcated shoulders with rib lines just before the split. The ring is hallmarked inside the band, although they are very rubbed. The most likely date from what is visible would be for Sheffield 1803, we have also tested the band to confirm that it is 22 carat gold. The mount for the stones and pearls is not gold but given such an early date for the band it would seem unlikely to be a later joining, unless it was for a family reason such as to keep the decorative part of an even earlier ring due to a death of a loved one. It certainly is a lovely piece and with the band remaining in remarkable condition considering the age and softness of the 22 carat gold it was clearly a cherished piece which was not regularly worn.

The ring comes in a non original presentation box. Ring size : P1/2 (US size 7.75). Band Width: 2.57 mm. Condition : Surprisingly good condition for period. All pearls and stones appear original.

There is a small chip to top edge of the central garnet which requires magnification to see clearly. Cleaned, polished and ready to wear or gift.
