Swanson originally hired writer/director Goulding to help her complete QUEEN KELLY, the unfinished silent epic she had started with Erich von Stroheim. After spending months editing Stroheim's footage, Goulding persuaded Swanson to make THE TRESPASSER instead. This film was Swanson's talkie debut and became a huge critical success and box office hit.

Swanson was nominated for her second Best Actress Oscar. Insert card is rolled and has been lightly restored.
